Subject: Washington Blvd. to be Renamed John Conyers Blvd.

Please be advised that a major street in Detroit, Washington Blvd., is being renamed to John Conyers Blvd.  This is the first major street in Downtown Detroit to be renamed after an African-American.  A dedication ceremony will be held.  If you would like to be part of the ceremony committee, please inform my office this week by email so we can  provide you with additional information.

The proposal to rename the street was engineered by our office along with the Detroit Legacy Committee.  The proposal was approved in 2 days, a process which normally takes 6 to 8 weeks.

Gregory J. Reed, Chair of the Detroit
Entertainment Commission and
Detroit Legacy Committee Members,
Hon. JoAnn Watson
Hon. Alberta Tinsley-Talabi
Charles H. Brown, Esq.
Donald Davis
Karen Lloyd
Sherry Washington
Angela Austin
